The novel corona virus, which appeared in Wuhan-China for the first time in December 2019 and since then has spread all over the world - including Turkey - has caused illness and death for thousands of people. According to the data reported by the countries to the World Health Organization, as of September 9, 2020, the number of infected people worldwide has exceeded 27.417.497 with 894.241 reported deaths. The numbers are increasing day by day.

The Ministry of Health announced the first coronavirus case in Turkey on March 11, followed by the first death announcement on March 17. In the second week of the outbreak, the number of patients diagnosed with Covid-19 has exceeded 1.000, while the number of deaths reached double digits.
According to the data of the Health Ministry in September 8, the total number of patients in Turkey amounts to 283.270. Since March 11, 6.782 people died due to Covid-19. The number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 since March 11 is 253.245.

Although the impacts of the pandemic followed a different course in every country, the virus brought life to a halt all over the world in spring 2020. A majority of activities and events had been postponed and people were only allowed to cover their most basic needs in terms of food and health. Although vaccination studies are continuing in different centers of the world, it is still quite difficult to make a clear assessment for the near future.
